How the Slow Fashion Community is Growing: Reflections from the Club Preloved Event
On Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending the first-ever sustainable influencer event organised by The Club Preloved. And I have to say, I was completely blown away by the strength, passion, and generosity that exists so naturally within our community. I’m not usually one for the classic networking event. The moment I walk into a room full of unfamiliar faces, the anxiety starts to creep in. My mind races with thoughts like what will I say? But this hit so very differently.
To be surrounded by people who not only already knew who I was (a very surreal moment!) but who also got it, who understood what it means to care deeply about fashion that doesn’t cost the Earth, I felt like I was truly among my people. The energy was warm and open. Conversations flowed with ease. We weren’t there to pitch or perform, we were there because we believe in the same things: in slower living, in conscious consumption, and in reshaping the way fashion is experienced.
What made the day even more special was how many of us are navigating similar paths. Many were mums, creatives, small business owners all juggling the beautiful, chaotic balancing act of modern life while staying true to our values. There was a sense of camaraderie and unspoken understanding; we’re not just part of a movement, we are the movement. Lauren, the force behind The Club Preloved, has done a phenomenal job. Not only in creating a space that champions sustainable style, but in building a community that feels real, inclusive, and united. Her ability to bring us all together in such a positive and authentic way is no small feat.
I left with the same message echoing between us: that second-hand is never second best. That shopping more slowly and more mindfully isn’t a sacrifice, it’s a form of empowerment. There is real power in this movement. I think everyone ion that rooftop could feel it, that quiet but firm confidence that together, we’re making a difference. And I left not just with a full heart, but with a renewed determination to keep pushing. To keep growing Little Black Look in a way that stays true to my values. To continue showing that secondhand can be stylish, elevated, and inspiring.
Because when you bring the right people together, people with heart, intention and purpose, the ripple effect is real. And this is only just the beginning.
